About the Event
Based on our own ontologies, epistemologies and praxis, where the conversación/conversation, convivencia/coexistence, reflexión/reflection, acompañamiento/accompaniment and solidaridad/solidarity are essential components in the ways we produce knowledge, the Latinx Feminist Collective offers a space where we can share, validate, reflect, and produce collective knowledge about what means to be a critically conscious Latinx Feminist Scholar in the Global North. In acknowledgement of the heterogeneity of the legacies of the Latin American and Caribbean diaspora and the intersectional positionalities, experiences, and identities of Latinx communities in the Global North, we will devote this workshop to value and foster a praxis of reflection, growth and action. First, we will collectively identify pressing challenges and possible opportunities in various spheres, including identity, family and social relations, graduate school, teaching, administration, the job market, writing and others. Then, we will share, strengthen, and create individual and collective strategies of resistance, overcoming and transformation to learn from one another and build together an enhanced feminist praxis as Latinx sociologists.
